Congresswomen Wexton Visits MEC-Fauquier

On April 21, U.S. Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D, VA) visited Warrenton and its environs to get an overview of Fauquier from county and town officials and local businesses. Former MEC-Fauquier graduate and current CEO of Strategic Alliance, Ken Lukonis, invited Congresswoman Wexton to visit MEC-Fauquier to learn about the growth of small businesses in Fauquier County. MEC-Fauquier Manager Renee Younes gave her a tour of the thriving incubator space while Jody Keenan, Virginia SBDC State Director, presented an overview of the Mason Enterprise network and its impacts on the region and the State. Renee shared MEC-Fauquier’s unique suite of programs, services, and resources for entrepreneurs of all experience levels. Ken Lukonis described how he launched Strategic Alliance and called upon the MEC for guidance and resources, using its co-working space, prior to renting an office in the facility. As his business continued to grow, Lukonis graduated and leased his own premises, and now serves on the MEC-Fauquier’s advisory board to pay forward the assistance he received while at the MEC.
